Alice Windham

September 16, 1942 — February 25, 2024

Glenwood

Mrs. Alice Faye Mauldin Windham, age 81, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her home in southern Laurens County, after a long battle with dementia. A native of Macon, Georgia, Alice was born September 16, 1942, to the late John and Clara Mauldin. She was a 1960 graduate of Margaret McEvoy High School in Macon. Alice married Glenn M. Windham of Macon, Georgia, in July 1960, and they later moved to the Dublin, Laurens County area. Alice and Glenn were married for 56 years at the time of Glenn’s passing. Alice was a member of Emerald City Christian Center (EC3) in Dublin, Georgia.

Alice and Glenn were entrepreneurs and owned various businesses in Dublin, including Windham Auto Parts, Soap and Suds Laundromat, and A & G Mini Storage. Alice also owned The Flower Cart Florist with her daughter, Melaina F. Windham. Later in life, Alice and Glenn were both instrumental in aiding their son, Jarrod G. Windham, with starting his men’s addiction recovery ministry - El Shaddai’s Refuge, Inc. Alice volunteered at El Shaddai’s Refuge until her health declined. Even though she was no longer able to work as she wanted, those who entered the ministry honored her as the grandmother of the house. Alice was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. And, even when dementia tried to steal so much from her, it was never able to take away her joy of praising Jesus.

Survivors include her daughter, Melaina Faye Windham of Dublin; son, Jarrod Glenn Windham (Melonie) of Dublin; granddaughters, Lauren Nation Thigpen (A.J.) of Rockledge, Micaiah Wynne Nation of Dublin; grandsons, Ian Alexander Windham (Brianna) of Reidsville, Evan McLeod Windham of Dublin, Drake Andrew Nation of Dublin; great-granddaughters, Katherine “Katy” Marie Thigpen of Rockledge, Kyla Faye Young and Emma Gabrielle Young of Dublin; and great-grandsons Buck Weston Thigpen and Hunter Jackson Thigpen of Rockledge, Waylon Glenn Windham of Reidsville. She is also survived by her sister Betty Sue Lang of Lizella, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Mauldin; husband, Glenn M. Windham; brother Charles E. Mauldin, Sr.

A private, family graveside service will be held and officiated by Evangelist Evan Windham. Interment will take place at Bracewell Cemetery in Laurens County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to El Shaddai’s Refuge, Inc., PO Box 4153, Dublin, GA 31040.
