Anne Focht Embody, August 4, 2023
Anne passed peacefully from this earth the morning of August 4, 2023 after a brief stay in hospice at the Oaks Center at the Marshes of Skidaway Island in Savannah, Georgia. Born and raised in Pottstown, PA, Anne graduated from Pottstown High School in 1948, and attended Stevens College in Columbia, MO, where she graduated with an Associates Degree from their Aviation Program. She returned to Pottstown and worked for The Firestone Company (Plastics Division) and ultimately served as Executive Secretary to Mr. Roger Firestone. Anne was married to Walt Seavers until his death in 1977. After retiring from Firestone, Anne moved to Stone Harbor, NJ where she began a second career as a supervisor in the Tax Collectors office and later married Robert Embody.
Anne and Bob moved to Savannah, GA in 2005, to be closer to family and enjoy the warmer weather. Her husband Bob passed away in 2009. One of Anne’s proudest accomplishments was being an early pilot, following in her father Paul’s footsteps. She first flew solo at 16, and got her pilot’s license at age 17. Anne was a savvy and detail oriented businesswoman and was also known to be a crack bridge player. Friends and family will remember her adventurous and independent spirit and fun-loving attitude towards life, as well as for being a sensitive and kind spirit. The younger among us will remember our “Aunt Anne” for her warmth, kindness and generosity. We shall miss you, Anne.
