Ben Gillette, born on September 11, 1972, in Toombs County to Carl and Sharon Gillette, passed away at his home on November 8, 2023. Ben's formative years were an adventurous journey through various towns and states across the Southeast, and after his high school graduation, he returned to his roots in Toombs County. Eager to expand his horizons, he pursued higher education at Southeastern Technical College.
As a young adult, Ben discovered his passion for music and honed his skills on the guitar, which led to his involvement as a talented member of a local band. His music resonated with those who had the privilege of listening to him play. Music was his passion, but the demands of life led him to his career. Ben was employed at Walmart, where he worked tirelessly in both the Vidalia and Baxley stores for many years, prior to his health declining.
In 2006, Ben's life took a beautiful turn when he crossed paths with the love of his life, Teresa Deloach. Their connection was instantaneous, and after a brief courtship, they both knew they were meant to be. On December 16, 2006, Ben and Teresa exchanged vows and began their journey together as a loving couple.
Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Ben was touched by his generous spirit and infectious humor. He had a unique ability to light up any room with his laughter and bring joy to those around him. His sense of humor was a source of comfort and happiness to many.
In his free time, Ben was known as an avid "horse trader," an individual with a passion for buying and reselling all kinds of items, from tools to tennis rackets and everything in between. He was a regular presence at the Vidalia Flea Market on most Saturdays, where he would share his treasures with the world.
Above all, Ben cherished his family more than anything else. He was happiest when surrounded by his beloved wife and children. Whether it was sharing moments watching cartoons or teaching his son to play the guitar, he reveled in the simple pleasures of life with his loved ones. Ben's life was a symphony of love, laughter, and giving, he will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father.
Left to cherish the memories of a lifetime of love is his wife of 16 years, Teresa Gillette of Glennville; his three beloved children, Connor, McKenzie, and Rebekah; his mother, Sharon Gillette of Glennville; mother in law, Milene Deloach of Glennville; brother in law, Mike (Stacy) Canady of Glennville; a niece and nephew, Brooke Do of Anderson SC and Hunter Canady of Glennville; great niece and nephew, Hanna and Eli Do of Anderson SC; other relatives and friends also survive.
