Ben Estin Shuman, age 59, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family. The lifelong Tattnall County resident was born in Savannah on March 21, 1967, to Buck and Brenda Grinstead Shuman.
Ben graduated from Reidsville High School in 1985, from an early age, he displayed an engaging personality; people genuinely enjoyed being around him. His approachable manner and lighthearted sense of humor brightened the days of those he encountered.
After completing his education, Ben began his career in the insurance industry with Farm Bureau. Later he owned and operated Reidsville Insurance Agency, where he became a trusted professional in the community.
Ben found great joy in the outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods, fishing on the water, or simply enjoying God’s creation, he was most at peace outside. He also enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs; he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He was a man who loved working with his hands, always willing to build, repair, or help someone in need. One of the projects that reflected his faith and servant’s heart was his craftsmanship when building the 7ft cross for Reidsville United Methodist Church, a lasting symbol of the love and devotion that guided him.
One of Ben’s greatest joys was his daughter Megan. Nothing brought him more happiness than watching her grow and become a mother to his granddaughter, Neomi.
Ben will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, the genuine friendships he built, and the memories he made with loved ones throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Buck and Brenda Shuman. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Megan and Marco Micaletto of St. Petersburg, FL; his sister, Anna Shuman of Reidsville; brothers and sisters in law, John and Lana Shuman and Mark and Victoria Shuman all of Reidsville; grandchild, Neomi Micaletto; nephews, Luke (Addie) Shuman, Jake Shuman, Chap (Hannah) Shuman and Mason Shuman.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 10am-11am on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at Connection Church Reidsville (123 E. Brazell St.), with the service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at the Reidsville City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Connection Church of Reidsville; PO Box 218, Reidsville, GA 30453.
