Charlotte Dillard

Bobbie Charlotte Dillard, age 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, following a brief illness, with her devoted husband, Ray, faithfully by her side. She was born on October 21, 1936, in Juliette, Georgia, to the late Herbert and Reba Thomas. A woman of unwavering faith, she was a dedicated member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Macon for more than 70 years. It was there that she married the love of her life, Marvin "Ray" Dillard, on February 13, 1955, beginning a beautiful marriage that spanned more than seven decades.

Charlotte devoted much of her life to serving both her church and her community. She found tremendous joy in teaching piano lessons to countless children through the years, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. She faithfully taught the Young Adults Sunday School Class, served as pianist and organist for Tabernacle Baptist Church, and was actively involved in numerous church ministries throughout her life.

Professionally, Charlotte worked as a secretary for Anderson Chemical Company and later for Tabernacle Baptist Church, where her kindness, dedication, and servant's heart were evident in everything she did.

In 1962, Charlotte and Ray joyfully adopted their only son, Marvin Wayne Dillard. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother, and a treasured friend whose gentle spirit and unwavering love touched everyone who knew her. While her hands are now at rest, the melody of her life, lived in faithful service to God and in love for others, will continue in the hearts of those she inspired. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved grandson, Landon Tate Dillard.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of more than 71 years, Marvin "Ray" Dillard; her son and daughter in law, Marvin Wayne and Sandi Dillard; her sister, Betty Samuel; her grandsons, Blake Dillard (Kaitlyn), Hampton Dillard (Caitlyn), and Hayden Dillard (Maddie); her great grandchildren, Allie Rose Dillard, Austin Dillard, Rowan Dillard, and Dallas Dillard; her nephew, James Samuel (Melissa); her nieces, Susan Kiely (Joe) and Jana Rowell (Brian); along with numerous extended family members, former piano students, church family, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 6611 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jon Beck officiating. Special music will be provided by Caitlyn Dillard, violinist, and Kenny Wells, pianist and soloist.

Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Dillard, Hampton Dillard, Hayden Dillard, James Samuel, Sonny Ard, and Jerry Carter.

Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by memorial contributions in her memory made to the Children's and Youth Ministries of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
