Bobby Speer, age 81, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Memorial Health University Hospital in Savannah. The lifelong resident of Glennville was born on November 2, 1943, to Miers and Bessie Crawford Speer.
He was a respected co-owner of Speer Construction Company and had the distinction of being the owner of Southern Wholesale for many years. His dedication to his career exemplified his strong work ethic and commitment to quality, which resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of working alongside him.
An alumnus of Glennville High School, Bobby carried a profound sense of pride for his hometown, where he cultivated lasting friendships and connections throughout his life. Those who knew him will fondly remember his vibrant personality; he was never short of a fishing or hunting story to share, often bringing laughter and warmth to conversations. Bobby had an unwavering passion for the outdoors, reflected in both his hobbies and his generous spirit. He loved fishing and hunting, often embarking on evening rides with his beloved canine companion, Finley.
His joy for life extended beyond his personal interests as he cherished community gatherings such as fish fries, relishing the opportunity to connect with friends and neighbors. Bobby also took great pleasure in nurturing his garden, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with others.
He is a member of Harmony Church and is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy Speer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alicia Kennedy Speer; his children, Robert Mitchell (Tina) Speer of Mendes and Michele (Glenn) Ambercromie of Pooler; sister, Milene DeLoach of Glennville; grandchildren, Robert Tyler (Heather) Speer, Jessica Speer (Nathan), Abigale Elizabeth Scott, and Parker Thomas Scott; great granddaughter, Anita Grace Speer; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00am on Thursday, July 24, 2025, with the funeral services to follow at 11:00am from the Chapel of the Glennville Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Loadman officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Reidsville.
Pallbearers will be Mike Canady, Tyler Speer, Parker Speer, Jamie Wasson, Dale Wasson, Mark Hendrix, Keith Anderson, and Brian Kennedy.
