Carmello “Carl” Corona
Carmello “Carl” Corona, affectionately known as “C.C.” and “Chilly,” passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born on January 21, 1934, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Rose Alberti and Antonio Corona where he was raised. Carl was deeply proud of his Sicilian heritage and forever grateful to his parents for their courageous journey to America in search of a better life. To his family, he was always “Sonny.”
Carl spent most of his life in Hollywood, Florida, where he built a life full of family, happiness, and loyal friendships.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geraldine Dostaler, son, Carl Thomas, sisters, Olivia DeSalvo and Sandra Glazier and son-in-law, Michael McMahon.
Carl is survived by his devoted sister, Joanne Antonucci, son, Anthony Corona, daughter, Tina McMahon, granddaughter, Kelli Holt alongside her devoted husband, Alan and his cherished great-grandchildren, Brayden and Shaylee.
For many years, Carl drove a tractor trailer for Tamiami Freightways and Gateway Transportation, and along the way, he collected not just miles but lasting friendships. He loved watching football, placing a bet on the horses, and was known for his smooth dance moves. Carl also had many stories to tell — often funny and always memorable — and those who knew him best loved hearing them. Two of his favorite places to visit were Las Vegas — where he never missed a chance at a free buffet — and Anderson, South Carolina, where he shared wonderful times with his dear friends Barbara and Urbano Hilton. For a decade, he volunteered at Memorial Cancer Institute, where his humor and warmth made a lasting impact on patients and staff alike.
Carl will be remembered for his good friends, his charming personality, his quick wit, and the way he could bring laughter into any room. In his later years, he was surrounded by wonderful aides who not only cared for him but also filled his days with companionship, joy, and comfort — bringing him true happiness when he needed it most.
Carl will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, stories, and resilience will live on through his family and all who were lucky enough to know him.
We love you, Dad and Pop Pop, and will carry you in our hearts forever.
Low Country Cremation and Burial has the honor to serve the Corona family.
