Carlton "Smitty" Smith(1930-2012)
Carlton "Smitty" Smith, age 82, of Hinesville, passed away
Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Memorial University Medical
Center in Savannah. Smitty was born in Charlotte, N.C.,
on March 1, 1930. As a youth, Smitty grew up around the
textile mills of Danville, Va., before joining and serving in the
United States Navy
for 20 years. He was an avid golfer and
storyteller. Smitty enjoyed meeting new people from all walks
of life. He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
Survivors are his wife of 11 years, Mai Smith of Hinesville; two
stepdaughters of Glennville; three stepsons, Fred Scruggs of Port
Orchard, Wash., Daniel Scruggs of Atlanta and Matthew Scruggs of
Atlanta; and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral Services
A Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, in the chapel at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville. Military honors will be rendered. Guests are requested to arrive at 12:45 p.m.
Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel is serving the Smith family.
