Reidsville

Carole C. Googe, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Meadows Memorial Hospital in Vidalia.  She was born on July 10, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin to James Clifton and Elise Johnson Clark and had lived in Reidsville for the pass 40 years.

A proud graduate of Glynn Academy in the class of 1965, Carole cherished her education as a formative part of her early life, making memories and forming the foundation for the years to follow. After high school, Carole embraced the role of homemaker with dedication and love, caring deeply for her home and those within it. In addition to managing her household with grace and diligence, she worked at various jobs throughout the years, contributing her talents and cheerful spirit wherever she went.

Carole’s interests and passions were many, and she found great joy in simple pleasures. She loved to spend her time reading, her curiosity and thirst for knowledge evident in her ever-present book. The kitchen was another of her cherished spaces, where she expressed her care for others through lovingly prepared meals. Carole also delighted in trips to the mountains, relishing the peace and beauty of nature.

Those who knew Carole will remember her as someone who never appeared in public without her makeup carefully applied, always dressed elegantly and accessorized with her favorite jewelry. She had an eye for beauty and took pride in her appearance, exuding poise and confidence wherever she went.

Yet, it was Carole’s gentle and giving nature that truly set her apart. She was known for her ready smile—a smile that lit up the room and brought comfort to everyone around her. Hugs from Carole were frequent and wholehearted, a genuine sign of her affection. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life; she was always eager to pray with or for others, embodying her devotion in every interaction. Carole’s unwavering commitment to her beliefs was demonstrated in her faithful membership at the Reidsville Church of God, a community which benefitted greatly from her presence and dedication.

She is preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin Googe of Reidsville; her stepchildren, Roygina (Homer) Wood of Hortense, Nikki (Harvey) Durden and Franklin (Angie) Thompson of Sandersville; sister, Linda Clark of Minnesota; several nieces and nephews.
