Carolyn Hall Cain, 78, passed away on August 11, 2025, after a short stay at Hospice House of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Georgia. During her time there, she was able to visit with many of her family and friends.
She was born on January 31, 1947, in Oak Park, Georgia. Years ago, she drove a school bus for the Oak Park school system and worked in the school cafeteria. After moving her family to Brunswick, Georgia, she continued her career by driving a school bus there for over 20 years before retiring.
Carolyn enjoyed a simple and fulfilling life, spending her time cooking, sewing, and being with those she loved. She was affectionately known to her great-grandchildren as “Granny on the dirt road.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cain; son, Ronnie Ritchardson; parents, Lewis Hall and Thelma Hudson Hall; brothers, Marvin Hall, Morris Hall, and Jimmy “Rooster” Hall; and sister, Laura Faye Memory.
She is survived by her daughters, Martha Evans Lefevre (Scott) and Carol “Flossie” Hobby (Terry); her son, Michael Ritchardson; her grandchildren, Carl Evans, Brittany Taylor (Brandon), Robbie Woodward, Gunnar Foster, Courtney Ritchardson, and Makala Ritchardson; great-grandchildren, Hallie Woodward, Milee Taylor, Raelyn Taylor, and Maverick Taylor; and her siblings, Ricky Hall (Irene) and Debra Turbyfill (Stacey).
The family will host a Celebration of Life at the Oak Park Community Center on August 30, 2025, from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. The address is 110 Southeast Railroad Avenue, Lyons, Georgia 30436.
In lieu of flowers, Martha and Carol ask that memorial donations be made to Hospice House of the Golden Isles (1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Georgia 31525), where some amazing people helped take care of their mother.
