Charles Council Brinkley

Lyons

Lyons, Georgia

Charles Council Brinkley, age 74, known to his family and friends as Robin, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of Solace Hospice. Low Country Cremation and Burial is also serving the Brinkley family.

Robin was born August 20, 1948 in Columbia, South Carolina, to James Alden and Jeanne Eloise King Brinkley. The son of a hard-working business operator, Robin graduated with an economics degree from the University of Georgia in 1971. He soon began a long and successful sales career, working for companies that included Collins & Aikman, Mohawk, and Interface. He would go on to own and operate his own sports flooring business, Moriah LLC, in Charlotte, North Carolina, until his retirement in 2016.

On September 16, 1978, Robin was set up on a blind date in Columbia with local beauty Sandra Cruzado, originally from Puerto Rico. They married December 24, 1979, and settled in Charlotte. Together they had four stunning daughters: Amanda, Candace, Alisha, and Justina. Robin and Sandra retired to Lyons, Georgia in 2016, with a home overlooking “The Big Lake” at Creek Shoals. They have thirteen grandchildren.

The quintessential “girl dad”, Robin’s deep love for his wife and daughters, and their deep love for him, was an iconic trait apparent to everyone who knew them. With his trademark smile and laughter, his ability to strike up a conversation and find common ground with anyone at any time, his dapper style, his extensive generosity, and his enduring and unfailing faith in Christ, Robin was a force of nature who made an impact on everyone he came across. His hobbies and interests included tennis, cycling, stock trading, fishing, and UGA football.

Robin survived his mother and father, as well as his older brother James King Brinkley, who passed away December 22, 2018. He is survived by his younger sister Carol Jeanne Klein.

Robin is survived by his wife Sandra and their daughters’ families, which include Amanda & Thomas Torrey (with children Skylar King, Lysander Archer, and Rylan Brinkley), Candace & Micah Williams (with children Hadley Pearl, Scarlett Raine, and Clint Boone), Alisha & Jacob Woodfin (with children Landon Guy, Adelaide Mae, Charlotte Marie, Emelia Rose, and Sydney Iris), and Justina & Jake Stevens (with children Jedidiah Jon and Council Bowmahn).

A memorial service will be held Tuesday July 18 at 11:00am at The Barn at Collins Family Farm in  Cobbtown, Georgia. Multiple hotels are available throughout the area, with those closest to the family including the AmercInn Vidalia and Hampton Inn Vidalia.

Small financial gifts to help cover memorial costs can be sent via Candace Williams (Venmo @Candace-Williams-81; CashApp $williamsec). Other financial donations can be directed to Sandra’s chosen ministry recipient Triune Wholeness, which provided life coaching services to Robin and Sandra over the past year. Cards, physical gifts or checks made out to “Sandra Brinkley” can be sent in care of Alisha Woodfin to 1062 Glynn James Road, Lyons, GA 30436.

Low Country Cremation and Burial had the honor of serving the cremation needs for the Brinkley family.
