Claude "Dicky Boy" Dixon, age 76, passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Community Hospice. He was born in Reidsville on January 7, 1948, to Horace and Eudell Bargeron Dixon and had lived in Glennville all of his life. Dicky Boy was a 1966 graduate of the Glennville High School. He had a fulfilling career as a project engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation for 34 years before retiring.
Claude will always be remembered for his dedication to his family and the joy he found in simple pleasures. One of his cherished memories was fishing with his grandchildren and making sure to pick them up from school every day without fail. In addition to his successful career and loving family life, Claude had a strong passion for hunting and was known as a jack of all trades and master of many. He was a proud member of the Ray's Hunting Club where he found camaraderie and solace in nature.
He was a charter member of the Glennville First United Pentecostal Church and is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dianne Duffany and JW "Bubba" Dixon and a son in law, Tommy Dubberly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Beecher Dixon of Glennville; his daughters and son in law, Darlene Dubberly, and Karen and Travis Burkhalter all of Glennville; his brother-in-law Joe Duffany of Glennville, grandchildren Jason (Danielle) Dubberly, Austin Fincher, Tanner (Sarah) Fincher, Dixon Burkhalter all of Glennville, great-grandchildren Jasey Dubberly, Cheyenne Dubberly, and Lainey Fincher; a bonus grandson, Brad Purvis of Glennville; several nieces and nephews
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 8, 2024 beginning at 5:00pm at the Glennville First United Pentecostal Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Glennville First United Pentecostal Church with Bishop James Holland and Pastor Brad Pickren officiating. Interment will follow in the Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Dubberly, Austin Fincher, Tanner Fincher, Dixon Burkhalter, Kenny Duffany, and Darby Stephens.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Ray's Hunting Club.
