Mr. Dale Hamilton Anderson, age 86, passed away Thursday, December 16th, 2021 at his home in Glennville, GA. Dale was born on July 11th, 1935 to Millard Dunwoody Anderson and Rubye Tootle Anderson, both of Glennville. Dale proved to be an extremely gifted musician at a very young age. In his senior year in high school, Dale received his first formal training in piano for less than a year.
Upon graduating from high school, Dale moved to Savannah, GA where he became employed by Joe and Doris Upchurch of "Upchurch Music Company". He quickly learned the art of piano tuning and repair. Dale and Gladys Bevil, another accomplished musician, were featured weekly on a popular, long running, television show entitled "The Music Corner".
Dale especially loved gospel music and played the piano for a number of gospel quartets throughout his life. He was best known for his many years of playing the piano for the "Proclaimers Quartet". Dale was invited to audition for some of the biggest names in gospel music, but declined the invitations, preferring to remain local. He has enjoyed simply playing for churches, weddings, funerals and community events.
In 1971, Dale married Angela "Angie" Hodges (Anderson). They had two children, Christopher Dale Anderson and Osjha Michelle Anderson (Domenicone) who both followed in their dad's musical footsteps, making their own mark on the musical world.
Dale Anderson retired after 26 years of service from the U.S. Postal Service. Throughout those years of employment, he witnessed some rather heartbreaking situations. Especially regarding underprivileged children, which eventually led to the creation of The Anderson Family Christmas Show. An outdoor musical production that brought viewers and tour buses to the little town of Glennville. Even "The Home Show" based in Hollywood, California sent a camera crew to capture the heart and spirit of this very unique musical production which was created out of the desire to see that these children too, would be able to enjoy a fun and entertaining event, that they might otherwise never have the opportunity to experience. The Anderson Family Christmas Show received the Presidential "Points of Light" award and Dale received special recognition by the U.S. Postal Service and was featured in the Postal Record Magazine Nationwide for his service to his community.
After his retirement, Dale continued to serve the community as he worked for 14 years at the Supply Company. One could always count on his friendly smile and assistance when needing help for their home improvement projects.
He was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church for 45 years where he served as the Church Pianist and Choir Director for many years. He also was a big Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. He was especially thrilled to have been able to witness his Atlanta Braves World Championship.
Dale Anderson is survived by his wife, Angie Hodges Anderson, his children, Christopher Dale Anderson and Osjha Anderson Domenicone; his son-in-law, Michael Scott Domenicone; three granddaughters, Ella Victoria Domenicone, Giavana Osjha Domenicone and Alexa Michelle Domenicone as well as one brother, Donald Dunwoody Anderson; sister, Vonice Anderson Aimone; a number of nieces and nephews.
