Dale R. "Ricky" Baatz, a loving father, dedicated law enforcement officer, and talented musician, passed away on August 3, 2023, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton. He was born on September 25, 1958, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and had lived in Georia most of his life.

Dale's passion for public service led him to dedicate 26 years of his life to law enforcement.  With unwavering commitment and integrity, he served his community with honor. Dale's stellar career was characterized by his strong work ethic and an unwavering dedication to keeping his community safe.

Not only was Dale a devoted public servant, but he also served his country in the Army National Guard. His military service further exemplified his sense of duty and selflessness.

Beyond his professional life, Dale had numerous hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was a talented musician and a cherished member of the Kickin Up Dust Band. Whether it was playing the guitar or singing at local venues, music held a special place in Dale's heart. In addition to music, he enjoyed fishing and playing video games.

He is survived by his children: Jaymie Baatz of Reidsville, Dale (Kelsey) Baatz of Jesup, and Weston Conner Baatz of Tyson. His siblings include Roland Jordan (Pam) Baatz I of Michigan, Patricia Baatz of Kentucky, Randy (Margot) Baatz of Nevada, and Michael Baatz of Glennville. Also mourning his loss are seven beloved grandchildren: Kyraa Baatz, Brystol Hill, Harper Hill, Kaleb Baatz, Ayden Blake, Briana Blake, and Braylen Blake.

In addition to his immediate family members mentioned above, Dale is preceded in death by his parents Roland Jordan Baatz, Sr. and Jacqueline Tatum, and his sister Cathy Dearborn.
