Danny Edward Hurt

Savannah GA,

It is with “Great Sadness” to announce the
death of Danny Edward Hurt, Sr.  Mr. Danny
age 65, entered into eternal rest Tuesday,
September 3, 2013 at Memorial Health University
Medical Center in Savannah.   The Milledgeville
native had lived most of his life in Savannah.
While in his first year of college he was drafted into
service with the United States Army. During his 4 year
tour in the army he was in the military police. Upon
returning to Savannah, he graduated from Savannah
State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
After graduation, he began a long career at Memorial
Health as a counselor in the Mental Health department.
He retired from Memorial after 40 years of dedicated
service.  Mr. Hurt is preceded in death by his parents,
Hurdy Hurt Sr. and Genevieve Braxton Hurt; brother,
Jackie Hurt.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hurt of Savannah;  two sons: Danny E. Hurt Jr. of Savannah and John Mark Roberts of Washington D.C.; two daughters: Velkeyta Gadson of Savannah and Tidra Hurt of Atlanta; three brothers,  Tony (Mary) Hurt, Sr. of Milledgeville, Larry (Ata) Hurt of Atlanta, and Hurdy (Carole) Hurt, Jr. of New York City NY; sister, Evelyn Inez Owens;  numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Graveside Funeral Services were held Friday, September 6, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Reverend Earl B. Quarterman officiating.  Thanks for all your “Prayers”.
