Darlena Lynn DeBerry, age 62, of Glennville was born on September 4, 1964, in Pahokee, Florida and passed away at her home on October 5, 2026 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Darlena will be remembered as a woman of faith, compassion, and strong convictions. She worked in construction, performing hurricane recovery, a line of work that reflected both her resilience and her willingness to step forward where help was needed most. She loved to help people and was known as a promoter of human rights, carrying those values into the way she lived and related to others. Her Baptist faith was an important part of her life, and she also had a fondness for Bigfoot, a unique interest that brought a touch of personality and warmth to the memories she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her step-father, Wallace Owens and her brother, Donald "Punky" Owens.

She is survived by her father, Henry DeBerry of Jesup; her mother, Judy Jernigan Owens of Glennville; her brothers, John Wallace (Darlene) DeBerry of Glennville and Curtis Lamar (Candace) DeBerry of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her sister, Judy Maria (Kevin) O'Connell of Glennville; and her special brothers, John and Todd and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Each of them shared in Darlena’s life and will carry forward memories of her caring spirit, her strength, and the many ways she reached out to others.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:00am at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home with the Reverend Jerry Knight officiating. Interment will be in Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 960 Spring Grove Rd. Jesup, GA. 31545. 

Pallbearers will be Shane Dashiell, Jason Cunningham, James Dixon, Wesley Dixon, Dustin Smiley and Tim Page

Darlena Lynn DeBerry’s life was marked by service, kindness, and a deep regard for others. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
