David J. Blount, Jr.

June 25, 1941 — January 22, 2022

Manassas

David J. Blount Jr. “JR” was born on June 25, 1941, in Manassas, Georgia, to the late David J. Blount Sr. and Tearessie Blount. After a recent illness, David transitioned his life on January 22, 2022, at Mass General Brigham Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts where his son Nicholas, niece, Alanah, sister, Asalean, and brother, Calvin were there in various ways during this time and for his last moments.

At an early age, David left Manassas to attend school to become a Cross Country Truck Driver which he did for many years. When restrictions changed about logging miles, he came off the road and became a Day Manager at Cortee’s in Dorchester, Massachusetts. After he finished there, he became what is now known as a “stay at home dad” and would often fix odds and ends around the house. He enjoyed watching sports, with wrestling being his all-time favorite. He loved playing around with his grandson Logan who regularly brightened his day, and he would say “Logan keeps me going”. He always had a genuine love for children. David was always ready to share stories from those special moments in his life and you’d stand to learn a thing or two from him.

David was preceded in life by both parents David J Blount Sr. and Tearessie Blount, three brothers, Thomas J., Robert, Alvin L., and one son, David Leon White. David was a devoted father to Nicholas A. Blount Boston, MA who he always supported and Ursula Gibson of Mobile, AL. He also had four stepchildren, Justin Davis, Wendy Davis, Samuel Milton, and Lascelle Moses all from Boston, MA. He was a proud, affectionate, and caring grandfather to Logan David Blount Boston, MA; Brandon R. Gipson Mobile, AL; and Justin A. Gipson Suwanee, GA. He is survived by his brothers, William (Kenzie) Blount Glennville, GA; Calvin Blount Boston, MA; Leamon (Mary Alice) Blount Manassas, GA; Bennie Frank (Renae) Haynes Manassas, GA, and Derek Haynes Waldorf, MD. David also has two sisters, Jeanette (Alan) Williams Lawton, OK and Asalean Haynes Boston, MA. A dedicated niece who always rose to the occasion during his time in need, Alanah Haynes of Boston, MA. He leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
