Deanna Wynette Matthews

Deanna Wynette Matthews, age 55, passed away Friday, July 3, 2026, at the HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.  She was born on March 20, 1971, in Brevard, North Carolina and had lived in Wayne County most of her life.

Deanna enjoyed traveling with her family to the mountains and seeing about her K9 companion of 15 years, Sassy.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles Wayne Joiner and was of the Baptist faith.

Deanna is survived by her companion of 28 years, Kevin Handley of Jesup; her mother, Nancy Boyett of Reidsville; her brothers and sister-in-law, Darrell Joiner of Reidsville and David and Tonya Joiner of Lyons; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, 2026, beginning at 5:00pm with the funeral to follow at 6:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with the Reverends Jim Rogers and John Crosby officiating.  Interment will be in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Joiner, Dylan Joiner, Christian Woods, and Derek Joiner.
