Ludowici GA,

Deborah McKinley, age 61, passed away on January 30, 2022, at Liberty Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.  The Massachusetts native spent much of her life in Liberty and Long Counties.  Living in the area for a long time, many in the community looked upon her as a “motherly” type figure.  Everyone recounts her loving nature and one that would always put others needs before her own.  She had a huge heart for all, and she loved without compromise.  The biggest benefactors of her affections were her family, most especially her grandchildren.  Throughout her period of illness, she drew strength and resolve to persevere from the kids.  A spirit to kind for this often-cold world, God called his angel home.  Deborah will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  She is preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Patricia A. Cookson and a sister, Ann Margeson.

Left to celebrate a lifetime of love and precious memories is her husband, Edward McKinley; a son, Michael McKinley; two daughters, Alisha McKinley, and Jessica Martinez; a brother, James Cookson, Jr.; a sister, Donna Weston; five grandchildren, Mark, Noah, Trinity, Katelyn, and Chloe; eight nieces/nephews, Trisha Ann LeCroy, Wayne Margeson, Jr., Valerie Weston, Jeffery Weston, Heather Cookson, Tara Bennett, Jimmy Cookson, and Kimberly Cookson; a host of other children that referred to her a their “Nana”, as well as numerous friends made along life’s journey.

The family will have a private vigil and celebration of Deborah’s life at a date to be determined.

Low Country Cremation & Burial is serving the McKinley family.
