Dewey Shealy, Jr.

Dewey Shealy, Jr., a retired Deputy Sheriff with the Chatham County Sheriff's Department, passed away on July 29, 2023, in Reidsville. He was born on September 13, 1940, in Moultrie, GA to the late Dewey Sr. and Emily Hatcher Shealy and had lived in Chatham County for many yearas before moving to Reidsville 20 years ago. He served in the Air Force and was an esteemed member of the Masons.

Dewey had a passion for flying and enjoyed time spent as a pilot. He took great pleasure in the freedom of the open skies and embraced the sense of adventure that aviation brought to his life. In addition to flying, Dewey also found joy in riding his motorcycle. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frankie Cowart Shealy.  Dewey also leaves behind two children, Dewey Shealy III and Elizabeth Shealy, his sister Dorothy Calley, grandchildren Dana Shealy and Shawn Shealy, great-grandchildren, Tristan Shealy, Lane Carter, and Whitley Marie Brown. 

Funeral services will be private at a later date.
