Donald Wayne Crosby, a beloved member of the Claxton community, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the age of 65. He was born on November 4, 1957, to William Darnell and Mary Futch Crosby in Claxton and spent most of his life in Evans County. Donald graduated from Claxton High School in 1978 and went on to work as an Equipment Operator for the Georgia Department of Transportation, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was also the proud owner of D&K Garage and Wrecker Services, a business he ran for several years until his health began to decline. In his free time, Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending countless hours with his grandchildren, whom he adored. His love for seeing children smile didn’t stop with his grandchildren either, he was beloved by many others across the county. Additionally, he was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he would serve the Lord. A dedicated man that was devoted to showing love to all he met, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Donald is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Kali Crosby of Fleming and Kelly and Sonya Crosby of Claxton; sisters and brother-in-law, Glenda Anderson of Claxton and Lynn and Joe Mixon of Statesboro; his grandsons, Logan Crosby, Gavan Crosby, Zachary Crosby, Jacob Crosby, and a special granddaughter, Ava Jaide Skipper; as well as a niece and several nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23, 2023, beginning at 10:00am, at Antioch Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 12:00pm, officiated by Reverend Liston Wainwright.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tim Stone, Jessie Kersey, Frank Fernandez, George Williams, Paul Howard, and Larry Blocker. Donald will be laid to rest at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Donald.
