Dorothy M. Williams

Dorothy Morton Williams, age 79, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at her home. She was born on March 19, 1946 in Savannah to Fred and Elma Weeks Morton and had lived in Chatham County all of life.

A cherished member of the Savannah community and devoted pre-kindergarten teacher at the YMCA, where she touched the lives of countless children.

Dorothy's passion for teaching was evident in her nurturing approach toward her students. She truly loved the children at the YMCA and embraced them as her own. They were not just her pupils; they were her heart. Her commitment to their growth and well-being was unmatched, making her a beloved figure in the lives of many families in the neighborhood.

In addition to her career, Dorothy held dear memories of daily life with her husband. Each afternoon, they would visit Johnson Square to feed the local squirrels, often taking the time to name each one, adding a personal touch to their simple yet joyful ritual. This practice illustrated Dorothy's warmth and appreciation for the little things in life, endearing her to all who knew her.

She was a member of Pinehurst Christian Church and was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bloise Williams; her sons and daughter in law, Danny Williams, Ronnie and Wendy Williams and Donny Williams; brother and sister in law, Franklin and Kathy Morton.

A visitation in honor of Dorothy will take place on January 19, 2026, at Central Christian Church, located at 6810 Skidaway Rd, Savannah, GA, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will celebrate her life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn.
