Ellen Ansley Proctor McDaniel passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in Kingsland, Georgia, at the age of 71. Born on October 11, 1952, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Virginia Allison Proctor and Lucius Bedell Proctor, Ellen spent her childhood in Colesburg, Georgia. She attended White Oak Elementary and graduated from Camden County High School in Woodbine, Georgia, in 1970.
Ellen pursued her passion for music and education, earning an Associate's Degree in Music from Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia. There, she was a cherished member of the Brewton-Parker Choir and The Folklores. In 1974, she graduated from Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.
For 25 years, Ellen dedicated her life to teaching at Todd Grant Elementary in Darien, Georgia, and at several schools in Camden County, including St. Mary's Elementary, Camden Middle, and Woodbine Elementary.
Ellen's love for music was evident in her role as a church pianist at Woodbine Methodist in Woodbine, Georgia, and several churches in Brunswick, Georgia, including Arco Methodist, Pine Ridge Baptist, Southside Baptist, and Central Baptist.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginger McDaniel Fiveash, and granddaughter, Kadie Fiveash, both of Brunswick, Georgia. Ellen also leaves behind two sisters, Ann Proctor of Woodbine, Georgia, and Mallette Proctor Cook (Rick) of Monroe, Georgia, as well as many extended family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodbine Methodist Church in Woodbine, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, with a reception to follow.
