Mrs. Emma Grace "Grace" Padgett, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, hard work, and unconditional love for her family. A lifelong resident of Tattnall County, Grace built a life centered around the people she loved most. She married the love of her life, Hubert Padgett, and together they shared an extraordinary marriage that spanned 66 years. Side by side, they weathered life's joys and challenges while building not only a family, but also a successful business legacy together.
Grace possessed an incredible work ethic and was always driven by the desire to provide for and support her family. During her early working years, she was employed in local clothing factories before later working for the City of Reidsville. Eventually, she and Hubert ventured into business together, owning and operating multiple convenience stores before establishing Padgett Well Drilling, where Grace proudly served as the company's Chief Executive Officer. Yet despite her many accomplishments, Grace would have quickly told anyone that her true full-time job was being a homemaker, a role she embraced with all her heart and one she considered her greatest calling.
Her home was always filled with the comforting aromas of meals prepared with love. An exceptional cook, Grace found great joy in feeding those around her and preserving each season's harvest through canning. Blessed with a true green thumb, she also loved spending time tending her gardens, especially her treasured red roses, which flourished under her care. More than anything this world had to offer, Grace loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life, guiding every decision she made and every act of kindness she showed. She lived her faith daily through her compassion, generosity, and steadfast devotion to both God and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Enman and Pearl (Stanfield) Anderson; her beloved husband, Hubert Padgett; a son, Donald Padgett; three grandchildren, Felicia Powell, Crystal Hardwick, and Kyle Floyd; and five brothers.
Left to cherish a lifetime of precious memories are her three daughters, Nancy Overcash, Patricia Powell, and Martha (Tommy) Clark, all of Reidsville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial with her beloved daughter, Minister Patricia Powell, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Regina Blanton, Katie Collindres, Taylor Key, Mercedes McCumber, Katelyn Blanton, Cassie Padgett, Abbey Key, Macey Ansell, Dani Rhodes, and Lisa Ansell.
Interment will follow in Reidsville City Cemetery.
Low Country Cremation & Burial has the honor of serving the Padgett family.
