Emory Bud Harrelson, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born on December 20, 1958, to James Daniel and Evie Irene Weaver Harrelson and had lived most of his life in Tattnall County moving to Statesboro 20 years ago.
Bud devoted his professional life to the roofing industry, working with esteemed companies such as Sapps Roofing, Dees Roofing, and Bobby May Roofing. His hard work and craftsmanship not only provided shelter but built lasting relationships with those he worked alongside and the families he served. Bud's commitment to his trade was evident in the quality of work he delivered throughout his career.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bud was known for his vibrant personality and zest for life. He enjoyed a good drink, often found appreciating the finer moments in life with a glass of vodka. His love for fishing and cooking brought him joy, whether it meant spending a tranquil day by the river or grilling out with those he loved. Bud had a special affinity for family gatherings, where laughter and stories flowed as freely as the food.
An avid fan of entertainment, Bud found pleasure in watching wrestling and old westerns, delighting in the rich narratives of heroism and adventure they portrayed. Music and dancing were also passions of his; he found joy in the rhythm of life, sharing moments of joy on the dance floor.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Billy Harrelson, Regina Harrelson, Dorothy Hodges, and Hugie Harrelson.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Diane Newburn; his children, Sharon (Mike) Horn, David (Jessica) Harrelson, Amanda Harrelson, Alisa (Salvador) Guillen and James Harrelson; his sister, Tonia (Kevin) Fletcher; grandchildren, Dylan, Christopher, William, Haley, Jacey, Julia, Lil David, Harley, Nathan, Jacob, Elijah, Christina, Salvador, Jr., Dimas, Shanna, Loren and JD; great grandchildren, Axel, Isabella, Julian, Anastasia, Valeria, and Emerie; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 23, 2025 beginning at 10:00am at the funeral home. Graveside funeral services will follow at 12:00PM at the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Keith Beasley officiating.
Pallbearers will be Salvador Guillen Jr, Dimas Guillen, Jose Hodges, Lewis Hodges, Michael Horn, and David Harrelson, Jr.
