Erol Reid, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished member of the community in Savannah, GA, transitioned on Thursday, June 29th, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born on January 22, 1952, in Jamaica, West Indies, to Newton (Mass Jim) and Hilda Reid. Erol spent his early years in the Bronx, NY, where he dedicated many years of his life working with the Westchester Agency for Retarded Citizens. After retiring, he relocated to Savannah, GA, with his family to embrace a peaceful and fulfilling life.

Erol had a deep passion for gardening, and he took immense pride in being a source of callaloo for the Jamaican community in the area. His green thumb and love for nurturing plants brought joy to all those around him. Erol's commitment to his community was truly remarkable and touched the lives of many.

Over the years, Erol was blessed with a large and loving family, including 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy throughout his life. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, his dedication to his family and community, and his passion for gardening. May his gentle soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and uplift all those whose lives he touched.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Hilda Reid, as well as his brother, Astley. Erol leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, forever treasured by his family and friends.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is his beloved wife, Leonie, who stood by his side throughout their journey together; his stepsons, Leon and Lenworth Mellis; his children: Sherrol Reid, Kamara Reid Clarke, Nadrae Reid Grashin, Vaughn Cliff Reid, Natasha (Tutsie) Reid, Jermin (Roger) Reid, and Rosemarie Reid; his siblings: Barbara Facey, Editha (Kibby) Reid, Lorna (Joyce) Campbell, Assad Reid, Courton Reid, Cynthia (Sunbeam) Black, Donneth Welsh, Richard Reid, Charles (Chris) Reid, and Paul Reid. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, all of whom were touched by his kind and caring spirit.

A Thanksgiving Service will be held on August 24th at 1:00 p.m. at the City of Faith Church of God in Wild Cane, St Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. Following the service, Erol will be laid to rest at the Reid Family Plot in Wild Cane, St Ann, a place that will forever hold his memory dear. The internment arrangements will be handled by Delapenha's in Browns Town, St Ann.
