Eva Frances Cowart

Eva Frances Cowart, age 85, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at her residence, under the compassionate care of Community Hospice. She was born on July 27, 1940, in Lyons to William Henry Gordy and Elizabeth Williams, and lived most her life in Reidsville. 

Frances found joy in the simple, fulfilling routines of taking care of her loved ones. Her remarkable talent for quilting and sewing became a cherished gift, with many remembering the beauty of her handcrafted pieces. Along with family, faith was central to her life. Frances was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the time of worship and the fellowship of friends. Professionally, Frances dedicated twenty years of service to the Georgia Forrest Commission, climbing fire towers and spending countless hours keeping watch over the wilderness. Her career was marked by steadfast integrity and dedication to the protecting the planet that she loved. 

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Cowart; granddaughter, Amy Williams; and brothers, Tommy Lee Cowart, Herbert Harrol, and Herman Gordy.

 She is survived by her sons, Bobby (Pam) Cowart and Michael Cowart, both of Reidsville; grandchildren, Beth Kennedy, Kaylee Cowart, and Megan Gonzales; as well as several great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Reidsville. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m., also at Friendship Baptist Church, with Reverends Rick Darby and Wes Collins officiating. Internment will take place at the Reidsville City Cemetery.
