Obituary

Mr. Ponch Uresti age 49 of Glennville passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Carl Vincent VA Medical Center in Dublin. The San Antonio Texas native had lived in Glennville for the past 30 years. He was a United States Army veteran and a correctional officer having worked at Georgia State Prison and Juvenile Justice. He was an assistant coach and equipment manager for the Tattnall County Warriors Football team and was also a referee and umpire for many years at the Glennville Recreation Department. Ponch was a reserve deputy sheriff for the Tattnall County Sheriffs Department and was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for music, fishing, hunting and all athletic sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Esperanza Uresti, Sr. and a sister Herlinda Uresti all of San Antonio Texas. He was also proud of his Native American Heritage as an Apache Indian.

Survived by his wife, Cynthia Uresti of Glennville; Son, Dustin Ray Uresti of Glennville;
Daughter and son-in-law, Hope (Nick) Covington of Statesboro; Grandchild, Addison Noelle Covington; Brothers and sister-in-laws, Jesse (Denise) Uresti, Joe Uresti, Jr. (Elizabeth), Ricky (Arleen) Uresti; Sisters and brother-in-laws, Rosa (Jesse) Soto, Laura (Alfred) Rangel, Gloria Uresti (Tom) Rodriguez all of San Antonio, Texas. Mother-in-law, Nancy Griffin of Glennville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Services
Visitation will begin at 6:00pm Thursday, July 21, 2011 from the Glennville Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00pm Friday, July 22, 2011 from the Glennville Chapel with Reverends Vance Riggins and Jerry Knight officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jesse Moore, Raymond Bradley, Jeff Kaiser, Jamie Smiley, Jason Howell, Billy Reddish. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of the Tattnall County Sheriffs office, Tattnall County Warrior Football team, Henry Strickland and James McGowan.
