Hillview Community

Glenn Arthur Cowart, age 68, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at his residence in the Hillview community following an extended illness. He was born on February 1, 1957, at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., to Margie Holland and Boliver Clifford Cowart. Glenn spent his early years in Collins, Georgia, where he attended elementary school before graduating from Reidsville High School.

Following graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, completing basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina. He was honorably discharged from the Marines and continued his service to his country by joining the Army National Guard of Georgia, where he served faithfully for seven years before receiving an honorable discharge. A hardworking man throughout his life, Glenn worked with Daniels Construction Company during the construction of Plant Wansley in Carrollton, Georgia. Upon completion of the project, he returned home and held various positions in local manufacturing plants as an assembly worker until an unexpected disability led to his early retirement.

Glenn cherished his family and was affectionately known as “Uncle UG” to his many nieces and nephews, who will remember him with love and laughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Boliver Clifford Cowart and mother, Margie Holland Swiatko; stepfather, Paul T. Swiatko; grandparents, Willie Marie Collins and Jefferson Davis “J.D.” Holland, Annie Lee Oliver and Walter Henry “Dude” Cowart; his sister and brother-in-law, Janice Lyneve “Eve” and William “Bill” Avery; and his sister-in-law, Cathy Swiatko Cowart.

Glenn is survived by his loving brothers, Danny Clifford Cowart (Glenda) of Collins and Charles Ellis Cowart (Carol) of Fairborn, Ohio; and his sister, Peggy Ann Lancaster (Bill) of Hillview. In addition, he leaves behind three stepbrothers, Paul “Tom” Swiatko Jr. (Evelyn) of Clayton, California, Fredrick Swiatko (Theresa) of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Robert “Bob” Swiatko (Brenda) of Reidsville, along with one stepsister, Linda Harnacke (Alan) of Elkhorn, Wisconsin. Several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends also survive and will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial. Funeral services will follow and begin at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rachael Harrelson officiating.
