Low Country Cremation and Burial announces the death of Helen H. James, age 89 of Savannah that made her transition on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Compassus Hospice after courageous battle with cancer.  She was born in Jamaica on March 13, 1934, to Robert and Anita Vanhorn Hogart.  She had lived in England for many years before moving to the United States to join her dad.  While in England she received her Registered Nurse License.  She worked for over 30 years at St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angles, California.  She made Savannah her home 10 years ago with her niece, Leonie.  She was a devout Christian that enjoyed reading and watching her religious channels on the television.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Lloyd Hogart.

She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Johns, Uty Warren, Jigsy Campbell, and Viona Drummond; her dear friend for almost 50 years, Mary Lofton; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial funeral services will be conducted 9:00am Sunday, June 11, 2023 from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial.
