Cedar Crossing

James Thomas “Tommy” Holland, age 62, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and under the compassionate care of Community Hospice. Born on February 16, 1963, Tommy spent his formative years in Candler County and was a proud graduate of Metter High School. Following graduation, he honorably served his country for eight years in the Georgia National Guard. Tommy's life's work was found in the logging industry, where he dedicated more than forty years as a skilled loader operator. Known for his strong work ethic and love of the outdoors, he built a career that he truly enjoyed and took great pride in.

When he was not working, Tommy could often be found enjoying two of his favorite pastimes, fishing and playing golf. His favorite place to fish was at the pond belonging to Angela's father, a place filled with countless memories. Following his terminal diagnosis, one of the first things Tommy wanted to do was spend time fishing there once again. Tommy never met a stranger. He possessed a gift for making friends wherever he went and was known by all as a true jokester who loved cutting up and keeping everyone around him laughing. His outgoing personality, quick wit, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was always ready for an adventure and never turned down an opportunity to travel. It did not matter where the destination was, as long as he was going somewhere. Tommy was also an avid fan of Georgia football and NASCAR racing. Many of his favorite activities, hobbies, and travels often included a stop at a Chinese buffet, one of his greatest simple pleasures. Even while being transported home from the hospital under hospice care, he made sure to request one final stop along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Clyde Holland and Irma Jean Humphrey Holland.

Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is the love of his life, Angela Dorsey; two sons, John Holland of Virginia and Christopher Sheffield of Savannah; two daughters, Amy (Justin) Crane of Waycross and Miranda (Joseph) Brantley of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chevy) Marcum, Whyatt Revels, Nevaeh Revels, Savannah Horton, ShayLynn Brantley, Joselyn Brantley, and Aiden Brantley; a brother, Richard (Laura Womack) Holland of Metter; two bonus children, Zack Holmes and Jamie Holmes, both of Cedar Crossing; three aunts, Shirley Champion, Eloise Sissons, and Ann Stickland; numerous other relatives; and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Low Country Cremation & Burial with Rachael Nelms officiating.

Services will conclude at the chapel.
