James Isacc Rawls

James Isaac Rawls was born on March 24, 1958, to the late Reverend Wardell Rawls, Sr. and Mrs. Retha Rawls. He peacefully relinquished his earthly temple on July 23, 2026. James lived a life marked by faith in God, hard work, devotion to his family, and a love for the open road.

He was the beloved husband of the late Missionary Lillie Mae Rawls, with whom he shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life centered on love, faith, and unwavering commitment. They were an extraordinary couple who joyfully shared the saving grace of Jesus Christ with people throughout America.

After graduating from Tattnall County High School, James proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a professional truck driver. He found great joy behind the wheel, traveling the highways of the United States and into Canada. He embraced the freedom of the open road, creating countless memories and experiences throughout his years of travel.

A man of deep and abiding faith, James united with Hagan Temple Grace Deliverance Church under the leadership of the late Bishop James C. Hagan, where he faithfully served as a steward. Later, he transferred his membership to The Living Word Christian Center, where he continued serving the Lord under the leadership of Bishop Caverous J. Boggs.

James was a loving and devoted father to Alvin Lamar Brown and Wakanda Rochelle Brown. Though not their biological father, he raised them with unwavering love, guidance, and support, embracing them wholeheartedly as his own. His kindness, strength, wisdom, and steadfast presence will forever remain in their hearts.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved children, Alvin Lamar Brown of Daisy, Georgia, and Wakanda Rochelle Brown of Vidalia, Georgia; a special granddaughter, Avilon Barney (Troy) of Lyons, Georgia; four brothers, Minister Roy Rawls (Karen) of Salina, Kansas, Samuel Rawls of San Diego, California, Raymond Rawls of Collins, Georgia, and Wardell Rawls, Jr. of Richmond Hill, Georgia; two sisters, Kathleen Perry of Providence, Rhode Island, and Debra Rawls of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three brothers-in-law, Lee Chester Weaver (Annie) of Collins, Georgia, Eddie Carl Weaver of Sylvania, Georgia, and James Mincey (Arva) of Kennesaw, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Meredyth Weaver of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, church family, and all whose lives were touched by his love, generosity, and compassionate spirit.

Though James has departed from this earthly life, his legacy of faith, dedication, compassion, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. His life was a testimony of service, humility, and enduring faith. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at The Living Word Christian Center, 744 S. State Street, Lyons GA 30436 with Elder Maurice McNeal, officiating and Bishop Cavernous Boggs, Eulogist.  

Interment will follow at Lakeside Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 46 East Metter GA 30439.
