Jane Blair, age 98, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Southern Manor at Candler in Metter. She was born in Collins on May 5, 1926, to John W, and Macie Quida Bland Burroughs.  She had lived in Atlanta for many years moving to Savannah 20 years ago. Jane lived a rich and fulfilling life, one that was to her family and community. Jane retired after 35 devoted years of administrative work with the Central Georgia Railroad, where her impeccable organizational skills and steadfast dedication earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Education was important to Jane; she graduated from Collins High School and later attended Draughn’s Business College in Savannah, laying a strong foundation for her successful career.

But Jane was so much more than her professional achievements. Her heart was as expansive as the sky, filled with compassion for those less fortunate. She found joy and purpose in taking care of the homeless in Atlanta and Savannah, a testament to her kind spirit and unwavering commitment to service. She was a beacon of hope for many, spending her life uplifting and nurturing those in need.

Beyond her service to others, Jane’s adventurous spirit shone brightly through her love of travel. She took several memorable trips to Israel, where she explored the lands steeped in history and faith, creating cherished memories that she shared with her family and friends.

Family was at the core of Jane’s existence. She truly enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, creating a tapestry of memories that will forever remain woven into their hearts. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Blair; her siblings, Evelyn Mosley, Margaret Southwell, Genevia Anderson, Hazel West, John W. Burroughs, Jr. and Bland Burroughs.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends beginning at noon on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 with the funeral services to follow in the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial at 1:00pm with Reverend Greg Smith officiating.  She will be laid to rest on the Burroughs Plot at Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
