Janet Eileen (Barnhill) Armstrong, 73, beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on August 31, 2025 at Oxley Park Health & Rehabilitation in Lyons, Georgia under the care of Affinis Hospice.
Janet’s greatest joy and love in life was her family.
Janet was born on February 24, 1952 in Lima, Ohio and lived in Wapakoneta from the age of 10 until she married her husband and moved to Winnie, Texas. She became a waitress at the age of 15 while in Ohio, and began working at Red Lobster in Lake Jackson, Texas as a waitress. She was offered a promotion and moved to Houston, TX. She became the Dining Room Manager at a Red Lobster there. She later moved to Augusta, Georgia with her husband and daughters and went back to being a waitress at Red Lobster on Walton Way. Janet was a waitress for a total of 54 years until retiring during the Covid pandemic.
Janet enjoyed singing, serving others, studying her Bible, and sharing her love for Jesus with everyone. After retiring, she found a love for crafts and watching hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Jo Ann Lucille Rapp, infant daughter, Trisha R. Barnhill, and infant son Harland Armstrong Jr, parents, Opal and Fritz Moothart, brothers Gerald P. Rapp and Richard. Rapp, and husband Harland Armstrong.
She is survived by daughter Barbara (Kevin) Hutchison of Ailey, Georgia and their children Michaela and Kevin Hutchison II; daughter, Kristie (Joseph) Addison of Dearing, Georgia and their daughters Sarah Grace Addison, and Izzie Nicole Addison; brothers, Ronald and Lester Rapp of New Mexico and Wesley Barnhill of Ohio; sisters, Connie Conley of Lima, OH and Sharon Place of Wapakoneta, OH and many nieces and nephews.
To know Janet was to love her and to be loved by her. She was giving, compassionate, selfless, hard-working, full of faith, and had a true servant’s heart.
Memorial service will be held at Oxley Park Health Rehabilitation in Lyons, GA on September 26, 2025 at 2 PM .
