Jerlean Giles (1931-2023)
Jerlean Giles, 91, of Springfield, GA, passed away peacefully on July 7th, 2023. She was born on August 24th, 1931, in Vienna Maine at home to the late Mildred Ladd Meader and Leslie Meader. Jerlean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was married to Luther Alan (Al) Bowlin for 15 years and had five children with him: Candy Veber, Jerry Bowlin (Kristy), Toni Hill (Carl), Jay Wikinson and Jimmy Bowlin (Debra). She later married Tommy Giles and they had a marriage of over 40 years. They also had one daughter, Michelle Giles, and adopted another daughter, Misty Giles. Jerlean had 23 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1959. She owned Tom & Jerry's Fish Market in Springfield, GA, where she resided since 1970. She loved all animals, flowers, children and fishing. She especially loved her chickens. She was known for her sense of humor and her generosity to everyone. She is survived by her siblings: Vivian (Meader) Hughes, Charlie Meader (Rachel), Virginia (Meader) Carter and Wiliam (Billy) Meader (Dianna], Linda Round and Rusty Meader sister-in-law Elaine Ladd and Floyd C. Ladd Jr.[ Robin] and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her three brothers: Lewis Meader, Lloyd [Sonny] Meader and Boyd (Skip) Ladd , her sister-in-law Gay Meader and her grandson Jesse Bowlin.
Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m on September 9th, 2023 at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 643 Standard Ln, Springfield, GA 31329. A Zoom link will be provided for those who can't attend.
