Jerry Lee Cowart went home to be with Jesus on January 10, 2026 at the age of 67. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones after a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Savannah, Georgia and most recently resided in Cobbtown, Georgia. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Jesus Saves Church in Swainsboro, Georgia as well as Lawrence Baptist Church in Pembroke, Georgia. Jerry loved life and loved people. He never met a stranger and was the life of the party. He loved dancing and singing karaoke. Anyone that met him, loved him. He was a strong family man and worked hard to provide. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering in his shop in his downtime and retirement. Jerry was a trucker through and through and he was a retired Teamsters union member of local 728. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, William Preston Cowart Sr. and Lina O’Zelma McKeithen Cowart.

He is survived by his wife, Della Lynn Cowart; his daughter, Ashley Morrison (Josh) of Cobbtown; sister, Frances (Cowart) Swafford of Savannah; brother, William (Buddy) Preston Cowart Jr. (Kathy) of Fleming; multiple nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, his precious dog, Roscoe and grand-pups.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Lawrence Baptist Church, 1521 Jones Rd. Pembroke, GA. 31321.

 A private family burial will be at a later date at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church in Twin City, Georgia.

The family will appreciate flowers or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
