Jimmy Thomas, Sr., age 72, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2026, under the compassionate care of Hospice Satilla in Waycross. He was born on July 22, 1953, to the late Hazel and Orvie Thomas. He spent many years working in the parts department at Waters Ford and later Mike Burch Ford before retiring. Throughout his career, he became widely known across the Ford community and was often referred to as the “Walking Ford Dictionary,” a testament to his knowledge and willingness to help others.
He was a simple man who believed in hard work and routine, going to work each day and returning home. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar and jamming out. Jimmy had a generous spirit and would give his last to anyone in need, always willing to lend a helping hand. Above all, he loved his family and the people around him. In many ways, Jimmy lived his life the same way he approached his work, steady, dependable, and strong, truly “Built Ford Tough”; he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are his children, Jimmy Thomas of Blackshear, Sally Thomas of Hartwell, Jaryl Thomas of Augusta,Tiffany Rowan of Blackshear and Adam Lashley of Waycross; his grandchildren, Rachel Tankersley, Lillian Tankersley, Conley Jane Tankersley, and Graham Tankersley all of Athens, Bondsie Partain, Bristol Partain, Berkley Partain all of Hartwell, Austin Lashley, Alyssa Lashley, and Andrew Lashley all of Waycross, Karter Thomas and Kamren Rowan of Blackshear; his sister, Debra Bechiom; and his brother, Donald Thomas.
