John Joseph Nocito, age 80, passed away on April 19, 2026, at the Brown Health and Rehab Center in Statesboro, GA. Born on December 9, 1945, to John and Rose Nocito, John’s life was marked by service, faith, and a deep commitment to his loved ones.
A proud graduate of Bishop Neumann High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, class of 1964, John immediately embraced a life of duty and craftsmanship. Following high school, he served honorably in the Army National Guard, demonstrating a steadfast dedication to his country. Upon completion of his military service, he pursued a career as an electrician, ultimately retiring as a respected member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In 2005, John married Susanne B. McDermott, sharing many years together until her passing. Their relationship was a cornerstone of his adult life, filled with companionship and mutual respect.
John's faith was central to his identity. As a devoted member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Claxton, Georgia, he was an active participant in his parish community. Alongside his spiritual commitments, he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where his dedication to service and fraternity was well known and deeply appreciated.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susanne Nocito; daughter, Stephanie Clark; parents, John (Rose) Nocito; sister, Rosemarie Capellone; as well as his maternal grandparents, Peter (Mary) Cantagallo, and paternal grandparents, Joseph (Rose) Nocito.
He is survived by his son, Peter Nocito; stepdaughters, Tara (Dave) Grady-Styring, Siobhan (Kevin) Sparks; sister, Maryann Zebrowski; grandchildren, Marlana Clark, Abaigeal Styring, Ireland Styring, Grady Sparks; one great grandchild, Gus Walker IV; nieces and nephews, Linda Gallagher, Anthony Campbellone, Edward Zebrowski, Daniel Zebrowski, and Rose Marie Curry.
John Joseph Nocito lived a life characterized by commitment—to his country, his trade, his faith, and above all, to his family. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2026, in New Jersey.
