John Calvin Rich, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Hampton Regional Hospital in Varnville, SC.
John was born on October 4, 1945, in Collins to the late Rochelle and Josephine Callaway Rich. He graduated from Collins High School in 1963 and proudly served his country in the Air Force for eight years at duty stations in Texas, Mississippi, Alaska, and Iran.
Following his military service, John built a successful career in the technology industry, working with IBM and Intel. Throughout his career, he was known for his dedication, work ethic, and commitment to excellence.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, LaNell Richardson, who died in October 2025; his brothers, Harry, Rochelle, Jr., and Grady; nephew, Robert Rich, and sister-in-law, Mary Price Rich and nephew, Robert Rich.
He is survived by sons, Dr. Terry Rich (Erinn) of Pasadena, CA, Michael Rich of New York, and Jeffrey Rich of Los Angeles, CA; stepson, Ronnie Richardson (Annette) of Port Charlotte, FL, grandsons, Sean, Joey and Cody, two great grandchildren, brother, Louis E. Rich (Grace) of Milton, FL, sisters, Frankie Drake of Savannah, GA and Martha Smith (Ben) of Greensboro, NC, sisters-in-law, June Rich and Connie Rich, and a number of nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Lanell Knight Richardson, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Brightmoor Hospice House in Macon, Ga.
Lanell was born on November 13, 1942, in Rentz to the late Menzo and Lou Ola Lavender Knight. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1960. Following graduation from high school, Lanell enjoyed a fruitful 35 year career with Southern Bell Telephone Company.
In addition to her parents, Lanell was predeased by her first husband, Joe Richardson, her brothers, Kenneth and Perryman, her sisters, Patricia, Edith, and Daris.
She is survived by her husband, John Rich or Warner Robins, her son, Ronnie (Annette) Richardson, Port Charlotte, Fl, grandsons, Joey (Michelle)Richardson, Fort Bragg, NC and Cody Richardson, Port Charlotte, Fl, two great grandchildren and step-sons, Dr. Terry (Errin) Rich, Pasadena, CA., Michael Rich, New York and Jeffrey Rich of Losa Angelos, CA., and a number of nieces and nephews. Her sweet spirit is missed.
At their request, there will be no formal service. Both John and Lanell will be laid to rest at Anderson Church Cemetery.
