Johnny Claude Sapp

Johnny Claude Sapp, age 79, passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was born in Brunswick on August 25, 1947 and had lived all of his life in Evans County.

Mr. Sapp was a man who spent his working years in the grocery, roofing, and construction industries. Through that work, he built a life marked by steady effort and determination.

He will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, and dogs. He was also known for his personality: a jokester at heart who believed that if he had made you smile, then he had done his job. Along with his humor, he was known for being stubborn, a trait that was very much a part of the character those who knew him came to love and recognize so well.  

Johnny was a Christian that knew and understood the Bible and is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Sapp and Allie Mae Gibson; his siblings, Homer Sapp, James "Geechie" Sapp, Wiladeen and Lorine Sapp.

He is survived by his children, James Alfred Sapp of Warner Robbins, Robert Lynn Sapp (Tina White) of Reidsville, Sheila Ann Shuman (Michael) of Nebraska, Charity Tessa Grant (Troy Cothern) of Register and Karly Leann Sutton (William) of Claxton; siblings, James Wiley "J.W." Sapp Jr. (Annidean) Sapp of Brunswick, Ruby Joyner of Statesboro and Brookie Sapp (Debbie) of Daisy; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 3, 2026, beginning at 1:00pm with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverends Barry Crosby and Sam Watkins officiating.  Inurnment will be in Brewton Cemetery.
