Minister Karen Denise Singleton was born on February 5, 1960 to the late Willie Joseph and Laura Mitchell. She was born and raised in Tattnall County where she attended Glennville High School, graduating in 1978. She was married in holy matrimony to the late Dan J. Singleton on May 29, 2004. She was employed with Telamon Corporation for more than 15 yrs. She later advanced her career with the State of Georgia, working for Smith State Prison for 16 yrs as a Food Service Supervisor. At an early age, she joined Zion Temple Church of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Abel Houston where she gave her life to Christ more than 40 yrs ago. She later joined Mt. Zion Outreach in 2003 under the leadership of Apostle Bobbie J. Adkins, where she served as a faithful member until she was called home to be with the father. She was ordained as a licensed Minister in 2020, going on to serve in many other auxiliaries at MZO. She managed the Joshua’s Boutique Clothing Ministry, the Usher Ministry, and the Food Ministry, feeding the elderly and disabled. Minister Karen Singleton was a great pillar within the community where she enjoyed praying, serving, and ministering to all that was in need. In June 2024, she was recognized by Ward I City Council Woman for her outstanding service in the community. She was part of several organizations to include The Emancipation Proclamation Committee, and The Christian Women Fellowship Group. She was a great seamstress, a great cook and enjoyed baking under the brand name Singleton Sweets. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, vacationing and having their traditional Sunday family dinners. She was preceded in death by her sister, Annette Mitchell and her brother, Willie Alfred Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 beautiful children, Lori Davis of Glennville, John Davis III of Statesboro, and Rochelle (Jerome) Howard of Hinesville. 3 brothers, Nash Mitchell of Roswell Ga, Paul (Trisha) Mitchell of Ocala Fl, and Kenny Mitchell of Glennville. 1 uncle, Joe Sanders of Glennville. 4 sister-in-laws, Dorothy Cooper of Hinesville, Peggy (Clarence) Gadson of Savannah, Virginia Hills of Atlanta, and Brenda Roberts of Midway. 3 brother-in-laws, Curtis Singleton of Brooklyn NY, Wendell Singleton of Hinesville, and Jeril (Marie) Singleton of Philadelphia PA. 6 adorable grandchildren, Saniyah, Ron Jr, John VI, Destiny, Journee, and Amari. 2 nephews and 1 niece, Shannon, Christopher, and Shalena, whom she helped raised. 2 God children, Leatrice and Chesley. A best friend, Gloria Nell Hill, for over 35 yrs and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Mount Zion Outreach Ministries. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from the Chapel of Glennville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Summersett, Lamar Harris, Isaiah Porter, Jeffrey Nesbitt, Shannon Mitchell, Shannon Mitchell, Jr.
