Kay Lynn Canady Horner, age 85, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. She was born in Collins on September 7, 1940 to Lucas and Jessie Mae Lynn Canady. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, General Marvin Edward Horner; her brother, Donald Canady and sister-in-law, Patricia Canady.
She is survived by her daughters, Marva Dawn Horner Morse and husband Robert John Morse of Helena, AL; Michelle Denise Horner Maughan of Cumming, GA; her brother, Hal Canady of Collins, GA; her grandchildren, Chrislyn Morse Taylor and husband, Timothy Taylor of Helena, AL; Jonathan Morse of Helena, AL; and Mitchell Ryan Maughan of Cumming, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Marva and Michelle would like to give a special thank you to her niece, Sandra Gail Canady Spikes and husband Harry, who brought so much aid and support over the past few years, as we appreciate their wonderful example of Christian kindness, service and love.
Since her husband, Marvin, was in the military, she lived in many states before moving back to her home state of GA. She spent many years in Marietta before moving back to Collins in 1995. Kay enjoyed travel and was fortunate enough to visit several countries in her lifetime.
Because of Kay’s strong Christian faith, her heart's desire was to maintain and raise her children in a Christian home. It was a delight to witness her daughters follow her example by raising her grandchildren in homes established on those same Christian values as well.
Kay attended Reidsville Baptist Church and enjoyed the sermons and bible studies given by Pastor Charles “Chuck” Jonas. She often mentioned how much she appreciated his wisdom, spiritual guidance and willingness to stop for a brief moment in his busy schedule to address “just a quick question”.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Dr. Charles Jonas officiating. Interment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
Low Country Cremation and Burial has the honor to serve the family of Kay Lynn Canady Horner.
