Reidsville

Reidsville,

Kimberly Durrence Woods, age 71, departed this life on September 27, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, surrounded by her family. She was born in Glennville on September 26, 1955, to G. L. and Joyce Waters Durrence. She resided in Reidsville most of her life until moving to the Lodge at Bethany in Statesboro in 2022.

After graduating from the first graduating class of Pinewood Christian Academy in 1973, Kim attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and was employed for thirty-five years as a medical transcriptionist at Tattnall Memorial Hospital and Evans Memorial Hospital.

She married John Woods in 1975, and they were the proud parents of two children, Claire and Lou.

She was a member of Reidsville First Baptist Church and had a lifelong affiliation with her “home church,” Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Most recently, she found great comfort in attending worship services at Bethany.

In keeping with Durrence family tradition, Kim was a lifelong enthusiast of horses and horse racing, and one of the highlights of her life was her trip to the Kentucky Derby with her sister. She was a member of Reidsville chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. In her favorite moments, Kim could be found spending time at Saint Simons Island with her sister, children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Despite suffering from severe health complications for many years, Kim always remained positive and upbeat. Her warm, encouraging personality was infectious, and she had a great appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents, G. L. and Joyce Durrence; husband, John Louis Woods, Sr.; brother-in-law, Gerald W. Dasher; and her sister and best friend, Pam Durrence Dasher.

She is survived by her children, Claire Woods Peterson (Bob) and John Louis Woods II (Katherine); grandchildren, Isabella, Bastian, and Eve Peterson, and Sloan and Ellis Woods; niece, Paige Dasher Mulligan (Mike); and nephew, Walt Dasher (Anita); as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Loves Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Dylan Mulligan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Walt Dasher, Mike Mulligan, Craig Hodges, Eddie Hodges, Matt Fallin, Mark Fallin, and Clay Waller.
