Mr. Lawton “Don” Shuman, Jr. age 90, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.  He was born in Collins on October 5, 1931, to Lawton Sr. and Carrie Rogers Shuman.  He met the love of his life, Mrs. Marguerite J. Goodyear Shuman while he was stationed with the US Air Force in Canada.  They were married in 1952 and had a wonderful 67 years of marriage until her death on July 1, 2020.  During his military career, he and his family traveled and lived in many places throughout Canada and the United States and settled in Hinesville in 1977.  He retired after 27 years as a Sr. Master Sergeant.  Mr. Don loved to garden, fish with his brothers and playing golf.  He was a Christian man and was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brothers, Cleon, Leonard, Herman, and Ward Shuman.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Murray) Miller of Canada, Gary (Win) Shuman of Savannah, and Damon (Karen) Shuman of Hinesville; brother, Robert (Glenda) Shuman of Collins; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted 11:00am on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Rogers Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Keith Beasley officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30am at the Cemetery.
