Lester E. Price, age 86, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Savannah Hospice. He was born in Ludowici on September 22, 1938, to James Virgil and Evener Drawdy Price and had lived in Savannah most of his life.
A graduate of Jesup High School, Lester went on to serve his country honorably as a U.S. Air Force veteran, completing three tours in Vietnam. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of duty and responsibility that he carried throughout his life.
For over 30 years, Lester was the proud owner of Cain's Upholstery and Fabric Gallery in Beaufort, South Carolina, where he became known for his skilled craftsmanship and commitment to customer satisfaction. His work not only provided for his family, but also allowed him to connect with many people in the community who appreciated his talents and warm personality.
Faith was an essential cornerstone of Lester's life. He was a faithful member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Savannah, where he held various positions of leadership. He served as head usher, as trustee, and took great joy in teaching Bible Studies. His dedication to the church went beyond its walls, as he also contributed to the bus route and led Bible study programs within the State Prison. Lester loved to share his faith and often spoke passionately about the Lord, making him a guiding light for friends and family alike.
In addition to his professional and spiritual endeavors, Lester was also a published author, having written two books that reflected his life experiences and beliefs. He had a keen interest in current events and enjoyed watching Fox News, often engaging others in thoughtful discussions about the world around them.
Lester is preceded in death by his son, David Price, his parents, and his nine siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Price of Savannah; his children, Tony (Aletha) Price of Charleston, SC, Beebe (Rob) Ferrell of Atlanta, and Joyce Miller of Alto, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at First United Pentecostal Church in Savannah on Saturday, August 9, 2025, beginning at 11:00am with the funeral services to follow at noon with the Reverends Ray Worley, Stephen Worley, and David Hodge officiating.
Interment with military honors will be 1:00pm on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
