Marlene Sanders, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. She was born on April 9, 1947 in Tattnall County to Ivey and Dorothy Beasley Oliver and had lived in Collins most of her life.
Marlene received her education at Reidsville High School before embarking on a fulfilling journey as a homemaker. She was a pillar of strength for her family and found joy in providing care and support to others. Marlene's grandchildren were at the center of her world, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their upbringing. Her gentle spirit and unwavering love left an indelible mark on their lives. Beyond her role as a doting grandmother, Marlene had an immense passion for gardening. Tending to her plants brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
She attended Pine Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Hugh, Wallace, Wendell and Calvin Oliver.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald R. Sanders of Collins; her children, Kurtis (Marsha) Sanders and Boe Sanders (Ami), all from Collins, siblings, Patsy (Ed) Driggers, Kenneth (Brenda) Oliver of Collins, and Linda Hodges of Tennessee; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews
On January 10, 2024, friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a visitation held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The Sanders Home located at 1468 Cedar Creek Church Road in Collins, GA. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held 2:00pm at Sanders Family Cemetery with Brother Jack Sanders officiating.
