Mart Donnie Conner

Mart Donnie Conner, age 73, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Community Hospice in Vidalia. A native of Montgomery County, Donnie graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1970 and lived in the McGregor community until moving to Toombs County in 1996. Donnie spent most of his life in some aspect of farming. He began alongside his father on the family farm before owning Purpose Seed Cleaning and Uvalda Farm Supply. He later made his way back into the fields, working many years at Herndon Farms. When he felt his days as a farmer were at an end, he found a career that still allowed him to use his gifts and vast experience working on equipment and the land as a foreman with Moses Grass Company. Donnie was hardworking and was regarded as a leader by many at work, at home, and at church. He was passionate and outspoken, especially about his Christian faith. Donnie was a longtime member of McGregor Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Deborah “Debbie” Conner; his parents, Mart B. and Odessa Conner; and his sister, Beverly Thigpen.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Bertha Conner of Lyons; his children, Mart Walter (Wendy) Conner of Vidalia and Mandy Conner (Terrill) Davenport of Brooklet; and his grandchildren, Brayden and Landry Davenport.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at Lyons City Cemetery, with Rev. Kenny Edge officiating.
