Mary Ellen Curl

Mary Ellen Curl, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Community Hospice.  She was born in Hortense on, June 12, 1940, to Ralph and Alma Edenfield Curl and had lived in Reidsville most of her life. At a young age her daddy gave her the nickname of "Bunk."

 A dedicated professional, Mary Ellen retired after many years of loyal service to Georgia Power in the Reidsville office, where her work was marked by her commitment and reliability.

Mary Ellen was a proud holder of an associate's degree, which underscored her belief in the importance of education and personal development. Throughout her life, she was known for her warmhearted personality; often described as a people pleaser, she had a special affection for her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, to whom she was a beloved figure.

A member of the Reidsville Baptist Church, Mary Ellen’s faith was central to her life. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, James Curl and Grace Yawn; her sister-in-law, Jackie Curl; brother in laws, James Canady, Caswell Yawn and Earl Scott; and a niece, Pamela Curl.

She is survived by her brother, Jack Curl; sister in law, Linda Curl; nieces and nephews, Jim (Brenda) Curl, Ronald Curl, Bill (Dianna) Harn, Gwen (Jeff) Rideout, Melissa Walker, Matt (Tiffany) Curl, Michael (Kelly) Canady, Wayne (Tammy) Canady, and Teresa (Darrion) Stanfield; several great nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Jeraldine Richardson.

The memory of Mary Ellen Curl will be honored during a visitation on December 27, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Low Country Cremation & Burial with Dr. Charles Jonas officiating.  Interment will be in the Reidsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Les Canady, Trent Canady, Lucas Canady, Tyler Stanfield, Ronald Curl and Herb Brown.

Memorials may be given to the Reidsville Baptist Church Building Fund.
