Reidsville

Mary Carol Fail, born on June 16, 1943, peacefully passed away on May 30, 2024, at Community Hospice inpatient facility in Vidalia, GA. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend who devoted her life to her family and her faith.

Mary was born to Lonnie David Burke and Shellie Mae (McGill) Burke and grew up in Bulloch County. She experienced the profound loss of her only sister, Gloria Burke, at a young age, making her the only child in her family. Despite the challenges she faced, Mary’s resilience and strength shone through.

As a full-time homemaker, she dedicated herself to caring for her children following the premature death of her husband, Joe Willie Fail Jr., when their children were young. Her love and dedication to her family were unwavering, and she created a warm and nurturing home for her children.

Mary's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord and worshiped at Anchor Worship Center in Metter for over 15 years. Her devotion to her Savior was evident in her daily life and her interactions with others.

She had a love for conversations and enjoyed talking on the phone with anyone and everyone. Additionally, she also had a passion for solving crossword puzzles, a hobby that kept her mind sharp and engaged. Her love for cats was well-known, and she owned countless feline companions over the years, each bringing her joy and comfort. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her husband. Mary’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish a life well lived is her son, Joe Fail, III; her two daughters, Diane (Bruce) Scott of Metter and Ida Mae Blair of Register; her five grandchildren, Heather (Lamar) Rachels, Shelby (Dylan) Roberson, Colby (Arleigh) Scott, Uyla Glidden, and Victoria (Guillermo) Nunez; three great grandchildren. Mary also leaves behind numerous friends and relatives who will remember her fondly.
