Mary Lou Spikes, age 87, passed away at her residence on Friday, March 15, 2024. She was born in Midville, Georgia, on December 11, 1936, and had lived in Reidsville most of her life.
Mary Lou dedicated her career to serving as an accountant with the Southeast Georgia Health District before she retired. Beyond her professional life, she was known for her exceptional culinary skills and her passion for taking daily walks. Her commitment to maintaining an immaculate home and beautifully kept yards reflected her meticulous nature and attention to detail. She was a member of Elza Baptist Church and is preceded in death by her parents, Alma Powell and Arline Wallace; her husband of 63 years, Charles Spikes, and her sister, Elizabeth Greenway.
She is survived by her children, Greg Spikes of Alston and Belinda Waters of Reidsville; brothers Ronald (Jeri) Powell of Vidalia and Larry Powell of Reidsville; grandchildren Justin Jarriel, Dalton Rushing, and Alexis Waters; great grandchildren, Landon Jarriel, Georgia Grace Rushing, John Ray Rushing and Andee Jo Rushing; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024, with the funeral services to follow at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Reverend Kenny Edwards officiating. Interment will be in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Powell, Glenn Powell, Dean Crews, David Crews, Kenneth Crews and Joe Waters.
